My baby veiled chameleon will not eat. We've had him only a week and when I left this morning I checked on him. I came back two hours later and he was in the exact same spot, with the exact same 2 crickets right in front of him. He's been stretching all day and looks very uncomfortable. =( I think he might be getting ready to shed, but I don't know what to do about the eating situation. He is as big as my index finger. I can't give an exact age because we bought him from lilreptile, but he is very, very tiny, and some of the crickets seem to be almost as big as he is. What should I attempt to feed him? He's still very shy, and if my boyfriend or I even try to put anything near him, he flees. =( I've attached a photo of him, so if anyone is good at determining age, that would be greatly appreciated also.

Thanks so much!!

Hi and welcome to the forum!!! :)
What size crickets are you feeding. It sounds like they are too big for him to eat and your cham might be afraid of them. Some times pet stores don't carry crickets that are small enough. He probably needs 1/8" crickets. You can order them online from one of our sponsors. Ghan's Cricket Farm carries them here is a link.. http://www.ghann.com/store/store_product_detail.cfm?Product_ID=3&Category_ID=1

Also, fill out the "how to ask for help" form. It will allow members to see how you're keeping your cham, feeding, etc. It only takes a couple of mins and is really worth it to identify any problems that might exist and we can nip them in the bud right away and by doing so it will help your cham a healthy and happy life. :)

Will fill out when the boytoy returns home; he knows most of the information. I just play mommy and buy the feeders :D its a fun job; but i learn a lot on the way <3

Before and during shedding they don't like to eat so he will probably start shedding soon. If its not in the next couple of days then its because the size of the crickets.

my little guy eats cickets no prob but he wouldnt eat anything else last night i put 4 mealworms in a green shot glass and he ate em up in 3 min. i ve tried to get him to eat these same worms before with different presentations but the only one that worked so far was the shot glass i put it up among the branches on a angle facing him and right away he went for them. i tried clear plastic trays and a small clear lid and neither worked i think it may have todo with the green colour not sure tho. could be looking for booze LoL
