I started putting it there for him, and he seemed to like the texture better than hard wood for rubbing.
It also aprised me of a minute detail in their behavior:
When they rub their eyes, its always seemed to me that they just layed the eye on the branch and squished it around.
They in fact use the cask as a guide, leaning HEAVILY onto the cask, and running it along the surface, and using the angle of their head to adjust pressure on the eye, always putting their (surprisingly) full weight on the edge of the cask.
That is why it looks so painful

Hes not aggressive, but not exactly a people person either. He was just really wanting that shed off!

Like everyone else has said, excellent video, and very interesting to see the actual way he's removing the shed.
I've never seen my guy do a full shed removal, I usually get home from work and there'll be skin fragments throughout his enclosure with maybe a few pieces hanging on.
Buy the way, the Don looks great!

This shed seemed to be particularly frustrating for him
We was just going crazy!
It also took the longest by far, about a day.
There is actually a lot more footage, if for some reason anyone is interested in seeing it Ill see about puting it together.
