Freak Accident = Snuggling Chameleons

First off, I feel really bad about this accident. Please, please don't rub it in my face.

This morning Waldo was free ranging on his kitchen window free range. He was there watching me do dishes and looking out the window. I had the sink plugged with warm water and soap to mop the floor. Usually after I finish mopping the floor I unplug because of the act Waldo is in his free range. Today it completely slipped my mind and I walked away. About 5 minutes later my son yelled "why is Waldo taking a bath?" I jumped off the couch and ran to the sink lifted him out of the sink and rinsed him off. I guess that he was trying to wonder and fell into the sink.

After I rinsed him off he completely wanted to cuddle and be close to me. I moved him back to the cage and he started closing his left eye. I moved him to the sink and tried rinsing his eyes out again. He tried opening his eye but started freaking out. Its 9:30pm and he's fast asleep but in the morning I'm going to give his a nice long shower and hope for the best.

I feel so stupid about the whole situation. I want to cry. I don't know what I was thinking. :(

I'm just worried. I hope that he'll be fine. It just breaks my heart. My husband was holding him and as I walked away, Waldo started reaching out for me like "MOM!" And you know that their hurting when they just want to be held and not want anything to do with anything else.

As I tell my brother; "it's not the lesson itself, it's that we adapt and learn from that lesson", so don't beat yourself up. He's probably ok, just keep a close eye on him and be aware of the potential risk in the future.
Happy herping

Everyone makes mistakes, hopefully this one just left him with some soap in his eye and he will be fine in the morning. Everyone knows what soap in your eye feels like so I can see why he wouldn't want to open it.

Let us know how he is doing this morning.

Since this happened yesterday, too late now, but you need to give him a very long, warm shower.
It could take gallons to wash out all the detergent from the eyes.

Like bunny said, warm shower should do the trick. Once I had a baby panther do a swan dive into my full coffee cup, little warm shower and he was as good as new.
