Fish bait!?

I went to the gas station yesterday and I noticed a little fridge when I walked in. It said "Live bait" I read the sign but only remembered these worms: Red worms, wriggle worms?(night crawlers)...etc(idk)

Is any live fishing bait good for a veiled chameleon?

I only ask this because I am getting low on crickets and wont be able to buy more until friday. And just curious if those worms would be good at all which I kinda doubt now that I posted this lol

Hornworms, silkworms, and supers are all used as fish bait.

What do they look like?

Personally I would not fed my chams "bait". They could be dirty and you don't know where they came from. Stick to reputable sellers of feeders as they breed and grow them. Also they know what to feed them as opposed to bait dealers and you never know how long they've been there.

We have occasionally bought crawlers from a local bait store to feed the salamander and frog; they carry waxworms, but I would hesitate to buy them there (as opposed to from the pet store), especially since waxworms are never more than a rare treat anyway. If it were me, I would hesitate to buy feeders from a bait fridge in a convenience store, as the people who run the store probably do little or nothing in terms of maintenance or health of the bait; I'd trust a place that specializes in fishing and bait more, and a good pet store (or specialist feeder insect provider) most.

Since today is Wednesday your cham will be fine until Friday. If it were a choice between no food for an extended time frame or a bait shop, I would use bait shop feeders. I know others will disagree but my chams have to eat and that matter most to me.

im not sure how big your cham is, but ive seen people feed theirs minnows and such from pet stores.

other options could be fuzzies (baby mice) or even just feed greens (lettuce and such) if your veiled is interested...

My chameleon is around 4 months old. I am going to count how many crickets I have left to make sure he gets some everyday until friday.

I just cleaned the cage out and found 29 live crickets. Feed 5 more today and yes I will have enough until friday when I get more.

I basically posted this to see if bait was another good food but I do question it and wont use it. I am ordering more worms this friday. Thanks all of you
