A few Spring and Red Salamanders.

Went hiking the other day to find some Spring Salamanders since I have yet to find any this year. I found tons of young ones and a nice adult. This brings my salamander count to 8 of the 11 species that are in my general area. I have yet to see Four Toed, Jefferson and Marbles but all in all its been a good year for me. Unfortunately all the pics are taken from a crappy phone camera since my camera is now toast :(

Two of the Red Salamanders I found.

Wish I could see your location in tapatalk. You've inspired me to check out the ones in my area.

Im in Maryland. Salamanders and newts are awesome!!! Just remember not to lift any rock that is real heavy so you dont drop it and smash what is underneath and always put the animal back by the rock you found it under so you dont smash it:)

That's awesome!! I wish we had salamanders, they're so cool. Nice pics! I like the first one with the sun glistening of its back the best.

Axolotls are definitely cool!!

The title should say Red Salamanders.

As cool as they are I could never take them home!! Of course I am in an area where I can just go see quite a few different species in nature most of the year:p

Those reds are sweet. Never seen one in Ohio but they are here if thats the Red Spotted Newt.

I see a lot of red backs and spotted the Blues and yellow .Have found tiger and jeffersons, and marbled as well but not lately. There are a lot of salamanders around here.

The reds are different than the Eastern Newts or Red Spotted. Ive never seen a Jefferson or Marbled in the wild before! The Spotted sallies are just awesome. I see a lot of Red Back, Lead Back and Slimy sallies every time I go out looking. They are everywhere. Sounds like you are definitely in a good spot for Sallies!!
