A few beardie questions

Hi!
So I'm a noob when it comes to beardies...

Goliath is 2in long ish. So about 5 weeks according to breeder.
His girl came with him and she is 7 weeks (bout 3-3 1/2 in)

Just recently separated, but have the same setup.

10 gallon tank w/ screen top (was told by beardie forum that screen is bad?)
Have a rock under basking spot, but it is not a heat emmiter. Also a branch that he climbs up to a higher basking spot.
Reptiglow 10.0 desert( till i can get a reptisun)
75 W basking bulb, temps range from 81(cool side) to 106 (basking spot).
They were eating crickets gutloaded with repashy bug burger and kale and squash. They are eating fresh kale and squash and sometimes tomato.

They were separated bc Bella is the bigger one and was stealing food and basking spots, but they never fought, that being said, Bella is on the above feeding schedule.

Goliath was wasting away, literally. 1 week ago. He has been forced pedialyte, baby food sweet potatoes and sweet peas. He is now actively participating in the feedings and lapps up the food. Ate 5 crickets, but now is just baby food ( not willin gto eat crix) however i still am concerned. He sleeps ALOT! are beardies naturally lazy? He does get up and explore, but not nearly as much as when i first got him. Today he ran for the first time in a week. But then he saw me, climbed up my arm, down my shirt and went right to sleep.

He seems very clingy, like when I try to put him away he holds onto my finger amd jumps up my arm. He is very friendly but hates to be put away, an dis very sleepy/ lazy.

Am i doing something wrong? Breeder said im doing everything right, and the baby food and pedialyte is per breeder rx.

I am not complaining about the clingy, its nice to have a baby who doesnt puff up and hiss when you reach into the cage, Im probably over reacting, I just dont understan dhim very much yet.

Also, getting ready to order feeders. Hornedworms, waxies, pheonix, crickets? I can get teeeny itty bitty horns from small pet feeders, but i need to know what is good to give them? ik variety is important at this age, I just need a little guidance.
J
Thanks in advance.

Looks like everything is good.

Beardies LOVE roaches. they dont just like them..they go nutts for them. That could get him away from the baby foods.

Beardies that young i would suggest bathing everyday in warm water up to there shoulders for around 5 minutes. I will dip a finger in the water and put it to the tip of the mouth and they usually start drinking.

Im glad you got them separated in time.

Roaches and horn worms are both great!

I too am new to beardies, but what you are doing is very similar to me so I beleive it is correct.
What if any subsrtaight are you keeping him on and are you suppelelmenting him at all.

everything sounds right good job!! but i recommend a Reptisun or Arcadia 10.0 bulbs because they are the top 2 best uv lights too get. Reptiglow is good but i believe the life span on them is shorter compared to the Reptisun and Arcadia. Now the baby you say is sleeping alot? Now at that age they should be highly energetic. by the sounds of it he most likely is dehydrated. That's what happened to mine, she was sleeping way to much so i pumped some water into her for about 3 days and boom back to normal. Baby beardies should have a small water dish in their tank but when they get older you'll need to get a bigger one which causes higher humidity which isn't good, so no water dish when they get 14+ inches. Giving them weekly "baths" 1 to 2 times a week should be good. hope this helps :)

Alrighty, roaches and horns it is :)
I was doing the bathing every day, but the breeder said it could be stressing him so I havent in a couple days but he does have a dish. He's very active atm climbing all over my keyboard lol that seems to be his "playground" at least where he is most active lol.

Ahh yes reptisun, getting that as soon as I have the $$, He has been sleeping tons, at least when I am home. I do have a small water dish, and I was bathing him until last friday every day and now every 2 days bc the breeder said that it could be stressing him.

I will bathe him tomorrow :)
He is suddenly very active. He just ran all over the keyboard and is hiding behind it now lol. Last night and the night before he ran for the first time in a week :D

His prognosis is looking up :D

Oh but I do have a question!!!

Are baby beardies usually clingy??? He hates being put away and he has to constantly see/touch me or else he just wants to lay and hide?? Idk, maybe he is a mamas boy i guess lol

Reptile carpet.

yes, Atm 3x calciumw/ d3 weekly (Monday wednesday friday) and i've done vitamins 2x, (tuesday thursday). But keep in mind, I have only had him since the 26th so I dont think it could be his issue??

What is a proper baby supplementation schedule? The beardie forum has been pretty hands off as far as advice, it's always "look it up before you ask." and then you get 5 different answers.

babies are usually clingy. i've heard they're like that because they like he warm feeling coming from your hands, and they like exploring like most baby reptiles. i practically have to pull my baby off (not literally) to get him back in his tank :)

Ahh okay, :) I was wondering if it could be that. he's cute when he explores, but he's still more sleepy than I would like to have him. He perks right up after baby food. Lol I have to do that too! He hangs on for dear life. I even put him on the warm rock thats right under his basking spot and he prefers me lol. :)

For babies the basking spot needs to be about 110-115. So he might be clinging to you for warmth. I know my adult male clings to me for warmth a lot when I take him out. He. When he sees his hot baskin spot he like dives for it lol. Now when you say it's like 3 inches are you counting from head to tail? And don't forget pick them up every day so when they are adults they are firendly
