Feeding in general

Hello,

I'm very excited to say that I will be getting a Chameleon in July (we wanted to wait till after a vacation). However the preparation has already began. :) I was wondering if anyone knew what foods I could feed the Chameleon and how much and how often I can feed them. I know lot's of different foods such as crickets and roaches are good. I was wondering what your thoughts were on Mealworms, Superworms, and Phoenix worms. How about veggies

Welcome to the forums and the world of chameleons! :) What kind of chameleon are you planning on getting? You can check out the care sheets for info: https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/chameleons/

Crickets and roaches are good, as well as phoenix worms. Superworms are ok, but should be somewhat limited for several reason. Not only are they VERY addictive to chams, but also kind of fatty and higher in chitin. Mealworms should not be fed except for an occasional treat. Hornworms and especially Silkworms are great feeders. Only Veiled chameleons with occasionally accept vegetation, but not often. Some Veileds will never eat it at all.

Hope this helps! Good luck with you preparation! :D
