Falling

I read somewhere that chams will fall on purpose as an extreme escape method. Does anyone know if there's any truth to this?

yep. have heard of it many times on here. my cham falls just cuz he's too stupid to realize he cant stick to some surfaces -.-

Thought so, first time i tried to handle mine he fell and i caught him mid air! Thought he'd panicked and lost his footing now i'm thinking he did it on purpose! Silly little things aren't they...cute though :D

i call it the suicide drop.

The fastest way for them to get away from a predator. or in this case, you... is to simply let go and fall.

they puff up and cushion themselves when they land.

many chams have takena 4 foot fall before onto a hard surface and been just fine...

as long as they get up and start moving right away its generally okay but if they stop moving theres probably a problem, my panther fell from like 4 feet when he was like 4 months old because i had just gotten him and he was terrified whenever i walked in my room, he was alright tho.

Both my chams have done this and both times it freaked me out. My first one reggie, a week after i got him i held him up above my eys and he jumped off. Im 6' 3" tall!!!!!!!!!!. he was fine. Same thing happened with my newst guy Ratchet. I have only had him about 2 1/2 weeks. I put him on a bird play perch deal. i watched him for a few minuets. saw he was very scared, so i went to get get him to put him away and he just fell right off. he only fell like a foot and didnt have any problems. They are built to fall. Awesome creatuers...:D
