Current Problem: I've had my baby Panther about 2 weeks and while looking at him occasional he'll have a bubble under the skin in his eye and it will bulge out almost as if his eye is gonna pop out! He will blink his eye several times from the irritation and then it always eventually goes away. Is this some kind of tear or an air bubble under the skin? This happens almost daily...

They do that when they are cleaning out their eyes - usually when being sprayed - do the eyes look normal otherwise ? If you could post a picture showing his eyes - it might be helpfull

So I couldn't get a shot of his eye bubbles but I did catch him rubbing his eye on a plastic vine that I made after he had the bubbles. He always seems to get the bubbles, then rubs it out on a vine and then he's good to go. Is this normal behavior? It happens on a daily basis at least... Again he is only a little over 3 months old so I'm hoping I can get this figured out sooner than later....

Sounds like he has something in his eye.

Try a long shower, or long mist session.

If it continues, try getting some plain saline eye solution, and put a drop or two in the eye, which will give him assistance in cleaning it out.

ALso, that baby is not 3 months old.

2 at the most. probably closer to 1.5.

Thanks camimom,

Ill try the mist session/shower and see what happens. So i just spray him directly from a distance for a longer period of time correct?

Its funny that you mention his age because the distributer that sent the chameleons out to our local guy here in Utah told him they were all 3 months old. He is roughly 3 in. In total length.

Don't spray directly, spray near him, or let the water fall on him from far above. I recommend a shower, as its so much easier.

ALso, if you post a photo of him on your hand, I can give you a better age guess, but from the pic you posted, hes not 3 months.

How much did a vet visit cost for you? Also there isnt a stationary bump that i can see. His eye will just swell up like a balloon all of a sudden...

Vet visits from what I've experienced in my town aren't very expensive for reptiles. Though I've only done check ups and fecals. A full check up and fecal for my cham will only cost around 90 dollars. I don't know what it would cost to help your little one but if the shower session doesn't help I definitely suggest a vet visit. Good luck with you baby.

Thanks Andee,

Ill keep you all posted as i'm gonna attempt a shower tonight and then the saline after that if i find no success.

Here are some more pics of little Tobius. So I've made some progress and determined that the mist shower has helped whatever it is to move more inward towards his eyes and he seems less aggravated than before... But I do see a really tiny bump under one of his eye lids.

I purchased pure Saline from Walmart and I'm going to attempt to help him with it. BUT the only Saline I could find was Saline nasal spray and it sprays it out in a fine mist. I know that Saline eye solution and the nasal spray are essentially the same ingredients attempting to replicate your bodies natural cleansing fluids...Is this what you guys are talking about or is it the eye drops ONLY that I should use?
