egg laying problem,

my veiled is worrying and confusing me ,she wont lay her eggs ,wanders about all day{looking for somewhere to lay}i have two containers in her viv, both 10 inchs deep,1 with sand,1 with a ficus ,so she has a choice.
last week i came home to find 12 or so eggs randomly lying about her viv, today the same,,1 over her 1 over there etc. she is alone all day,but wont dig at all,i have started a couple of holes for her ,but nothing!begining to worry,i know she aint egg bound as she has layed some eggs ,but does not show any intrest in digging, she is completly left alone for now,in a very calm and quiet corner.she is about 11 months old, hasnt mated, her flexarium is 175 gallon, temp 70-90 ,humidity is 50-65 and is healthy, dusted every 2nd feed ,drippers on all the time and she drinks well,i have also tryed swapping her viv about and putting her in a trash can {she wont have that-she wants to wander ! oh,,shes a veiled !

im confused! any help and advise much appreciated, thanks in advance !

You should try the large trashcan method,

Get a large plastic trashcan from homedepot or something, attach a heat source but nothing too strong bc it will get too hot in there and provide some shading for her (ficus plant).
Fill it with either sand or dirt its up to you...

Put her in there and provide some privacy do some more research there are a lot of threads that have explained this down to every detail.
Make sure u get those eggs out or a vet visit will be necessary...
Goodluck

At what age should i start to worry about my female veil chameleon laying eggs?

She seems to be 4 months and I found her digging through the bottom of the cage 2 times and turning dark for a few minutes but goes back to green. I also have a ficus plant with lots of roots everywhere that leaves lil room for her to lay eggs if she had to. It's about 5 inches all around and 4 inches deep. Should I get another option for my chameleon?

Females dig deep. What worked for me was a 5 gallon bucket filled up to 2 inches from the brim with dirt that I mixed while misting. I placed a fake plant on the side where I wouldn't be able to see her and then I placed vines going down to the bucket. I also blocked off the back/sides of her cage so she had lots of privacy. Even being home often she dug for about two or three days. She didn't seem to like her holes so she would start another. One hole she dug went down about a foot kinda curving around like a spiral. When chams dig they use a lot of energy so be ready to feed and water her. Also don't put too many crickets in her cage because they will bother her while she digs. My female didn't start digging until the bucket had been in her cage for about a week.

My female also dropped eggs around her cage. In total I counted 25 eggs. I am sorry to report that she didn't make it. I was gone for a weekend (left early Saturday and came home mid day Sunday) and found her on the bottom of her cage. This was a week and half after she had stopped digging. It was sad but I knew I had done all I could for her.

Smile Tale of two sisters.......

I have a tale of two sisters to tell you Martinbigmac..........I have two Diego Suarez females. They are sisters. They were bred to my male two weeks apart. The first sister, Esmeralda, was a very good girl. Two weeks or so ago she paced a little bit and then did the big dig in a ceramic pot filled with coco fiber (what I use for egg laying). The pot was in the cage she shares with her sister. The sister actually sat at the bottom of a ficus plant and watched Esmeralda do the whole thing. Esmeralda laid 23 beautiful eggs.

The other female, Esperanza, was not a good girl. She was a total spaz. Yesterday she started spitting eggs out all over the cage. She just sat on a branch and popped them out. She never paced and did not show any interest in the pot of coco fiber. I took her out of the cage and put her in a waste basket filled with coco fiber. She spit three more eggs out on top. Then she spent several hours digging, laid 10 eggs, and buried them. Then she sat on top of her buried nest and spit out five more eggs. She laid a total of 24 eggs. I put her back in her cage tonight but I'm wondering if she will spit any more out.

I would try putting your girl in a small trash can. I figure that even if the girl just spits them out they won't dry out as fast as they would in the cage. The nest medium will have some moisture in it that will keep the egg from drying out before you can remove them.
