Does your Cham close their eyes when eating?

So Hubby and I was looking at the photos we have of our boy while eating. Hubby pointed out that his eyes are always closed, just wondering if anyone else has noticed this...when we watch wild life programs some of them do close their eyes and some of them don't.
We are guessing its a personal thing for each chameleon?
Here is a few pics

my guess its just to protect their eyes if their tounge like recoils back and hits them in their face. I had a jacksons that did that like all the time. i wouldnt be worried about it.

Did you use a flash on your camera maybe this made him close his eyes.Mine dose not but it must be a personal thing.

Hmm, I have to look. I do know that my female veiled always closes her eyes when I walk w her in my hand. But she does not when I am sitting or standing w her.

lmao yeah like....'ouch!'
Yeah we did use a flash, we did discuss that maybe thats why.
We aren't worried just was more interested to be honest. He fascinates us....I don't think it will ever get boring lol.

i have sen my guys do this as well i believe as well i has to do with tounge recoil wouldn't want one of those cricket legs to poke them in the eye

I think tis a personal thing. My Cham is fun to watch eat. He gets ontop of his dish, turns his head sideways looks at his food then shoots his tonge out. I love to watch it he is so awkward. Maybe your Cham just has awkward little qurkes, too?

Yeah maybe he does :)
I watched him this time while feeding and he still did it even though I wasn't taking photos so it cant be the flash....must just be his thing. Although it does make sense about closing his eyes so not to get a cricket leg in his eye....ouch

Stops the vitamin powder getting in his eyes hahaha. My Veiled when he is in greedy mode, will catch 2 or more crickets at same time ends up with them walking on his face, so funny see him toss them off with his foot :D must admit though he is an expert at shooting 2 superworms in one g0 ;)

most, if not all chameleons close their eyes during "blast off" and "landing". i guess it's instinctive, and plus, most times because of angles of their shots towards their prey, the tongue kind of slings off the hyoid bone either up or down. this would easily allow the insect to kick them, or bite them in the eye
