Does anyone have African Fat Taileds?

Hey, I just got a 2 year old African Fat Tailed Gecko from my cousin, few questions.

1) How to tell gender
2) If I wanted another, what size cage would I need for both of them to live together
3) What does its poop look like. There is sand in there right now, should I change to newspaper?
4) what to supplement my dubia with?

1) turn it over and look at the bottom. If you see 2 hempi (bumps) it is male, if you see no bulges it is female

2) Assuming you have one of each sex, and they are the same age, adults or close to it. At the least a 20 gallon long tank.

3) Over 1/2 inch long and usually dark colored. I would use indoor/outdoor carpet or newspaper is a ok option.

4) Supplement with super worms, crickets, pinkies are all good.

Mine seems to only sit in hide all day. Why is that?

Was it active when at your cousin's house? It is warn enough and have you seen hime eat?

I had a pair a long time ago and found them to be less active by far than leopard geckos....if that helps.

Point of interest...the males "bark" when it's mating season...quite loud too.

The information you were given is good...however I did use a gravelly sand for a substrate with no problems.

I got the same tank and light, so I don't think the temp is an issue. They are nocturnal aren't they?

Yes they are nocturnal, but having the same tank and light doesn't mean you have the same temps. Your house may not have the same room temp as where he came from. I would still keep a temp gage in his tank.

Alright, I have one for my chameleon that I will move over and check, what should be the cold and warm side temps?

i suggest a 20 gallon long but some people say a standard 15 for 2 but i think that's too small. they are a tropical reptile but their substrate should newspaper and supplements should be something like Zoomed ReptiCal with D3 once every other weel ReptiCal without D3 every 2-3 days. And occasionally ReptiVite like once every other week.

So similar supplementing routine to chameleons? And, the warm end is around 88, is that too hot? I can raise up the light with some contraption if I need to
