Do all Nosy Bes go blue?

Hi There,

Just a quick question. I was wondering if all Nosy Bes go blue? I have only seen bright Blue Bars on Ernie once, but mostly he is Light Bluey Turquoise, Yellow and Green. I know in the wild they are mostly Greens and such, but he is CB.

I love Ernie and don't really mind if he never goes blue, just wondering, that's all :)

Depends on his blood lines if he had a blue sire than most likely he will be blue but if not he will be yellow to green

Even though most are greenish blue in the wild I seen a pic of a blue one in the wild. I've heard thru breeders that in captivity over the years they turn more blue.i also think that the real blue ones are blue thru select breeding. Hopefully that helps .

Like it was said previously it depends on lineage. The colors can also change with age. My adult male Booberry was blue barred as a youngster, then solid blue teenager, and now pretty much medium shade of blue with a few red speckles.

Very true. If you look at jannb profile she has taken a trip to Madi, and stayed on the island of Nosy Be. Not one chameleon was blue. They were all a greenish almost blue color. The blue came from years of captive breeding to bring out the "blue" trait.

Thanks Everyone for your comments :)

Like I first mentioned, I love Ernie anyway, but was just curious!

He's a year old now, so I'm not sure if he's going to be a full bodied blue ever. I've seen him a similar Blue to Jann's boy Hendershot but only twice and was mostly bars.

He's a cutie, so it doesn't matter to me :p I just wanted to be sure that him not being that bright blue colour, didn't mean I was doing something wrong... not being paranoid.. just double checking! haha!
