Differently Shaped Veiled Casques

Has anyone ever paid attention to how widely different male Veiled casques are shaped? I just recently seen a pic of a member's veiled's casque, and it looks very similar to a male Verrucosus. A different shape that I see on a regular basis is what I refer to as the shark fin casque (pretty self explanitory; their casques look like shark fins to me). My male has casque that seems to me like it's shaped rather oddly. I have only seen 1 other veiled out there with an almost identical casque as mine. He or she is a member on here but I, unfortunately, cannot remember who this person is. I've seen many other differently shaped casques but thos are the ones that have stood out the most to me. So I just thought I'd open up a discussion on everyone's thoughts about a Veiled's casque, and what everyone thought about their different shapes. I would also like for anyone that has pics of their male Veiled's casque to post them as well. And if you have a female well just post her's too if you'd like.

Yeah, ya see here's another different shape. His looks real pointed and sharp. And not to mention cool :cool:
 
Mine's is kind of stumpy and small. He was a little stunted by bad care from a previous owner, but not too bad. His casque is also bulging with fat pads, even though he's never been big. Not a very good specimen...also he's a total jerk.

To ferritinmyshoes (I always lol when I see your name)-

Yeah, your Veiled has the stockier looking casque shape...

He really is a nice looking Veiled though. Got some nice oranges, and real deep yellow bars. Wow those bars are really getting my attention now. And his casque has some great yellows too. Nice cham!! And lol about being a jerk :rolleyes:. He certainly looks like he can be one from that pic.

I just love your Kink! Better keep your security system in check sos I don't come by and nab him from you :p. He dosn't have a dull scale on his body. And his casque is awesome too. Like you said tall, but not too tall, and filled out real well. Man his colors just look so incredible :eek:.

Why thank you! im very pleased with how hes doing.
i havent seen hawk recently, ill go take a look.
and fyi, if you want a girl from kinks line..... hes gonna be a dad in about 8 months!

Edit- hawk is soo yellow! love it.. bet he loved being outside.. even if he does look a bit grumpy. lol. .

He hates that darn camera. I failed to realize that he had a visual on it the whole time he was out there. It was only later that night that I realized that that's why he stayed puffed up the whole time he was out there. Which was the better part of half an hour or more.

And OMG I just sent Jann a PM asking her some specifics about female Veileds this morning because I wanted to get Hawk a girlfriend!!!! I'm freaking out right now, that's crazy that you mention that lol. I had pretty much swayed to get an already adult female because I wanted to allow him to breed with a female soon, but the temptation of having a Kink x Hawk cross may be too much to bare. I will seriously, seriously consider getting a little girl from Kink because I would love to see what the males would look like with Kink and Hawk's genes mixed in them :cool:.

I have a question as I can never for the life of me find even a general time frame in which Veileds mate and when the females lay eggs: When do they normally mate, as in which months, and when do the females lay, as in how many days after breeding? And then the range of time it takes for the eggs to hatch in days after being laid?

If I would have to wait for like next year around this time for him to be able to breed then please, please hold a good looking little girl from Kink for me :) Where exactly are you located though? PM it to me if you don't want to post it on here.

And thanks for the nice compliments on Hawk :) You should have seen him in person. He looked way yellow-er and appeared to glow like a glowstick :D:D:D.

haha! thats hilarious. I dont know if they have specific breeding times, but Lily and kink bred about 2 weeks ago. So i expect eggs in about 2-4 more weeks.
Once eggs are laid, It can take 6-8 months to hatch, depending on temps.
I plan to start my eggs at 76 deg, then each month move it up a deg till they are at 78.
ANf i would be happy to hold a girl for you. :D
I bet he does look even better in person. the cameras never do them justice.

I can't think of any reason now of why I wouldn't get a baby girl and raise her up if this is the general time Veiled's breed, because I am in no shape to handle eggs and babies right now lol. And having a piece of Kink's bloodline would be fantastic. The only thing I'm worried about is shipping...Do you live too far away from Florida or are you actually pretty close because I wouldn't want her to get stressed out from a long ride. And ,out of curiosity, how long have you bred Veileds? Sorry to seem so noisy but I was just wondering :eek:

I have never bred anything before. this is my first breeding. but I contacted jannb for info. and its not too complicated.
I got kink when he was 2 weeks old, so carrying for neonates wont be much different than caring for him.
I will def hold ontoa goof girl for ya.
Im in MD. I can ship to Fl. or you can drive up an dpick her up.
I wont ship before 2 months old. but if you drive up, i can let her go at amonth.

I would have to ask you to ship her. MD would just be too far for me to drive as I will be constantly busy for a while and couldn't make the trip. MD isn't too terrible though as far as a long ride. It's a lot further than I would like, but I would expect her to arrive just fine. How much are you wanting for her, and how much would it take to cover the shipping?
