i have a 12x12x18 set up for dart frogs(useing the hydro balls and substrate layers leaf litter ect) i has one branch in it and a fern + some viening plants ect. i think i need some type of water feature if i want dart frogs thought. could i put a pond(those little water dishes) and that be ok for them? how often would i need to clean it? what would i do if they had babies in it. just not clean it? i dont want to buy any unless i know how to fix the water problem. i was going to get 2 thumbnails or one regular sized.

A water dish is fine. My bi colors have not laid any eggs in the water dishes. I clean mine out about every 3 or so days. They dont use it to defecate in or atleast that i have noticed.

From what i know they need a petri dish or very shallow source. I have heard the use of a half coconut hide over the top of the dish. Im no expert on darts so i could be completely wrong ;)

i havent decided on the type yet. probally thumbnails or the ones that are just like thumbnails but bolder. i read up on them at joshs frogs. :)

so all i need is cocohuts and a little pond for them? they sound easy to care for.

thats not bad. i just dont want to distroy eggs by cleaning the little ponds out. mabey just add water or something if they dont poop in it.

they're unlikely leave eggs out in the open
I clean the "ponds" in my frog house but not daily
I dont really clean anything else unless moss or plants die. Might clear off a layer off the top of the sand/dirt this year in one of my older tanks, might even totally redecorate. But then again, maybe not. The isopods and springtails seem to do a pretty good job of keeping things okay

my springtails are awsome at keeping things clean. i think ima get some isopods aswell. i want the rolly polly ones :p.

i got alot more reserch to do but im always scared to keep something in the 12x12x18's. they just seem so small. miht have to move things around to fit a pond. lol.
