I've seen lots of mixed opinions to these so wanted to start my own thread to see if i can get some sort of confirmation. Are these plants safe for a panther chameleon? From my understanding there is some toxicity but should be fine unless the cham likes to munch on them alot. Just think the plant would be great to add some colour.

thanks for responses

ive read some keepers using them just fine. ive also read that they are toxic if ingested..but honestly.. theres some info from both sides of the coin..not a single solid answer...

yeah thats what I have seen so I want to try and get replies from people who have used them and what their story about them may be. I'm almost certain when i get my cham I will try it out and if i notice hes eats it ill replace it

I use them, however only for young chams as the leaves and branches don't hold the weight of a full-grown cham. I've found that they can be used up until the cham is about 5-6 months old, and then you find a lot of leaves on the floor of the cage that just couldn't support the cham's weight. I've had a young veiled, however he never has eaten his plants, as well as panthers without any problems.

hmm very good to know unfortunate they dont support adults because thats what i was thinking of putting it in. guess I can put it in his smaller tank than just use other plants in the bigger enclosure

I have crotons that I use the fill put the cage bottom. They seem to do very well in the tall enclosure and look nice. I have a Jackson's, and he does not chew on the plants, so I can't give advice about toxicity/irritation.

they're pretty toxic, cause nausea and gastroenteritis, but the leaves are really thick and hard to break. It'd take an aggressive cham to get into the sap, but if it did it could cause some issues

I have one w/ my panther, but he rarely eats plants, and if he does its the various bromeliads or sphagnum I have up by where he hangs out...a calculated risk I guess?
