Crickets & Vit A

Does anyone know if crickets, dubias, superworms, etc. converts beta carotene into Vit A?

I've been told crickets do not. yet I was also told Grasshoppers and locust do, for their eyes, so it seems crickets might to some limited degree. Superworms can contain A because they will eat meat, but I do not know if they covert. Do not know about roaches converting, but again they will eat meat so they may not need to.

This is why some feel very strongly that it is important to provide a LITTLE preformed vitamin A to chameleons, as its not known that chameleons will convert it either. This seems especiallly importnat for those people who dont gutload well and who use a very limited variety of feeders. Caution is warranted, as the line between useful and toxic is thin. If you are going to add pre-formed A, do so in a VERY limited way, through the gutload rather than directly. I've never provided Preformed A to my chameleons, and they live long happy healthy lives - but the variety of bugs I provide seems more extensive than most.
