Cricket Food (silkworms)

I know it would be expensive and pointless but I was wondering if I could feed crickets mulberry food (the food for silkworms) to get the same wonderful protein filled feeder. Or will crickets still be less nutritious then silkworms?

Also, I order a whole bunch of silkworms (babies) and they all had spun silk around the container and they are all caught in it. I tried cleaning most of the worms from the silk. But they keep producing silk.... I thought they were only supposed to do that when they were older. How does everyone feed off their silkworms if they are filled with silk ? wouldnt this be bad for the animals...Im new to silks lol as you can see

Hi! A little bit of silk won't hurt your reptiles, it breaks down fine along with food as far as I can tell, although I have found a little bit if it in my Cham poo :)

The best thing to do with silkies is to split them into sterilised tubs in small groups. They will poop and spin silk til the cows come gone so you need to clean out the tubs at least once a day! Make sure your hands and any tools you use are very clean and sterile. I scoop the poop and silk out with a little plastic spoon and sterilise everything in boiling water.

As for feeding mulberry to the crickets, you would want a but more variety and vitamins in their diet. If your buddy's eating silkies he's already getting the hood of the chow :)

Thanks angel. One last question please. How do you clean your tubs afterwards to reuse them for later on

I wash my silkworm containers in the sink with white vinegar and hot water. If necessary, boiling water poured into each container. A little bit of dish soap, if WELL rinsed, is okay.

To make crickets as nutritious as possible, I suggest gutloading like this:
