Crestie help asap!

I discovered last night my cat, somehow broke into my crestie cage and Allera got out.

I found her, bleeding on the floor.

She'd dropped her tail (the least of my worries)

The injury most concerning me was to her side. She had this red thing sticking out, and for a second it inflated. and im pretty sure it was her lung.

I got it back inside, used peroxide to clean the wounds, wrapped her side in a bandaid (to make sure whatever it was stayed inside) and put her in a tiny critter keeper.

This morning shes still alive, but listless.

She has a tear where the limb meets the body on 3 legs, the worst of which is on her back leg. I fear there is something wrong with the leg as she doesnt seem to want to move it, though does not protest when I move it for her.

neither eyes seem damaged, but one eye is dilated more than the other. Like one eye is trying to see in the dark and the other is not.

shes breathing, and all bleeding has stopped.

I don't know what to do from here.

I got some liquid calcium and repti-aid, and i gave her a drop of the repti aid.

ANy help would be appreciated.

and no, there is no vet around here that will see her right now.

At this point your best option is to find a vet asap to assess the injury and see if she'll pull through. Does she have an open wound? Is it more of a gash? You probably will need to post a photo. I'm sure Clark (forum member) can give you more insight. I would keep temps on the warmer side and watch the humidity. Poor thing, hope she makes it.
When I had my geckos in tanks, I duct taped both sides so my cat wouldn't somehow get my geckos. They're clever!

vet wont see me till monday.

a few wounds seem like gashes, small flesh wounds, but two look like puncture wounds.

i keep her in a small exo terra viv (glass), and the darn cat broke the wire on top of the viv.

the one wound im concerned about on her side, a pic wont help much, as whatever it wasit is back inside, and now it just looks like a tear in her skin.

Poor little crestie :( Other than vets I have nothing else to suggest other than what you are already doing - keeping her quiet in a clean environment.

Clean environment, clean wounds-- just keep everything sterile and make sure there is nothing to get caught on.

There isn't much you can do except hope right now. It sounds like youve done everything else you can while you wait for the vet. :(

i hope your little critter is ok~

pretty much everything im doing.

waiting for the vet to call me back.

anyone know how often i can feed repti boost?

I would go easy on supplements. I feel a lot of those just agitate the animals. Do what you are doing, just keep feeding her, keeping her clean, and wait for the vet before medicating.

The ingredients of reptaid contain a lot of vitamins and minerals but also alcohol and other things that are hard on the animals body. I have talked to a lot of big breeders who say those things do nothing.

Just let her body heal on its on and keep on taking great care of her.

Best of luck, I really hope she pulls it out. I just got my first 2 cresties with my girlfriend and they are really rewarding.

How is she doing today Cami? I really feel for you, poor little things seem so tough until something like this happens. I second what the others have said, keeping her clean and calm in a small container will do wonders until the vet can see you.

Sadly, she passed away about 20 minutes before we were leaving for the vet.

the EMergency vet was in surgery, which is why i couldnt get ahold of her sooner, and by the time i did.. and she would have been available.. well. :(

Thanks. Im so upset.

I'm not mad at my cat, he did what cats do, and had that been a mouse, id have been happy (hes a killer mouse hunter)

I just have to figure out a way to keep him away from the gecko cage later.

Its just odd he couldnt care less abotu the chams..

Hell, theyve gotten out and explored the floor while i do cage cleaning, and he just ignores them completely.

Cresties are quicker though, their defence is running away and jumping, like a mouse, mine even squeak sometimes.

yea which is why I think he wanted to play with her.

and Allera squeaked all the time, like a baby alligator. it was so cute.
