Crestie eating dirt

Help my crested gecko is licking the Eco earth in his cage and just lays on the bottom of the cage. When I take him out though he acts normal and he took a few licks of diet but when I put him back he just sits on the spot I put him on. Then when I come back an hour later he is laying on the ground licking the dirt again? Anyone have an explanation?

Sorry i dont know crested that well. I know a little but not enough to to tell you why the animal is eating dirt. I would personally remove the eco earth and place paper towel down. Last thing you want is the animal becoming impacted.

I personally keep leachianus, pictus, leopard, gargoyle geckos on paper towel :)

Also there was a small air bubble looking thing on top of his head and he does have a slight disability because i was really really stupid and wasnt paying atention to what i was doing but he has made a pretty good recovery from it only sometimes strugling with his back left leg. Am I worried over nothing?

I dont think it is normal for them to eat eco earth. So i would think something is going on. I just dont know what. I would go to a crested gecko forum and post your concern and see what they have to say.

Here's what I managed to put together:D I found a little bit of paper towels.

Oh and a little update I woke up this morning and by gecko was acting completely Normal and I even got some paper towels and separated him from my other male because I guess they hit puberty and started getting territorial:D. The bump was gone and everything was good he's even climbing on the top of his cage lol which is really really awesome but I get scared when he's up there:D
