corn snake- couldn't resist

I was adamant I wouldn't get another snake after loosing my rough green tree snake, but I went to Portmouth reptile show today and couldn't resist. I picked up this little guy- a male coral snow corn snake. I've named him sweetcorn & I think he gorgeous. Will get some better pics when I feed him in a few days (should be interesting, I've never dealt with pinkie mice before), I'm letting him settle in for now.

I'm much happier with this purchase- the breeder provided me with records of all his feeds & sheds since his hatch-date, & contact details should I run into problems.

Aww, you got him then! It was such a good show today - so much to look at but still way oo many snakes and spiders for my liking, lol! It was great to finally meet you and Mike! :D

Pinkies are tough, I still haven't got used to them! The Big Cheese Rodent Factory do wonderful pinkies etc. Really good healthy ones.

Just fed him :D Buying the mouse nearly made me puke but I got over it pretty quick. Didn't take any pics in case I scared him with the flash

He's a cutie. My hubby is adamant that we not get a snake, though he did recently modify that to say that we could get a green tree python :D Not sure how I'd do with the mouse situation either, but best of luck to you!

Cool! I really wanted a green tree python but decided to go for something smaller. They are stunning snakes!

Just think of pinkies as gummy bears and it will be all good!

Less easy when they are on cute fuzzies and hoppers! My yearling ball python has already outgrown the fuzzies I bought when she was 6 months, they are just snacks! Need to get back to Big Cheese and order some hoppers.

Glad you got another snake, and it sounds like you got him from a good breeder! He is beautiful! My husband has two hypo columbian boas(het for albino), and they are eating small rats right now. I hate it every time! We already have one mouse that we fell in love with and decided to keep. There was also a baby rat that we got instead of a small one, he was barely weaned, and SO CUTE! We decided to keep him and get a female or two so we can try to breed. I have to stop! I told him he is going to have to start getting frozen/thawed bc I can't keep falling in love with these little things and keeping them. Plus it's safer. Anyways....good luck with your snake!

cheers! Any idea at what age I upgrade from pinkies to fuzzies, or whatever cute name people give the food? I wish people didn't give the food cute names, makes it harder! lol

Lys, I know for balls it goes by weight, and they recommend food slightly wider than the widest part of the snake. Big Cheese just call theirs S/M/L/XL I think. I usually feed mine a day or two after she gets really active, was once a week 6 months ago, now she's a year it's twice a week because I'm still working through the 25 fuzzies I bought for her!

I totally understand about the feeding, I grew up with pet rats, and bred them. There is no way I could feed live, feeding f/t isn't fun. I refused to adopt her until the vet who rescued her persuaded her to switch from live to f/t.
