Convincing my Parents

Hey! I'm new to the forum, and I would like to know how to convince my parents to let me get a chameleon. I've been doing a lot of research but tips would be great :).

Chameleons aren't a good starter lizard they're delicate and the lighting and calcium are just 2 of the many things that are really important to get right. I have 1 chameleon and 2 bearded dragons and the dragons are so much more fun and easy and they love to be held I tuck my dragons in at night. Chameleons generally don't like it. Just a thought. No thoughts on the parent aspect.

In addition to the points above, how old are you? Will you be going into high school soon (or are there already), and have less time to dedicate to a chameleon? Will you be going off to college and not be able to take him or her with you? Do you have a job so you have money for an enclosure, feeders, and a vet fund for emergencies? I don't say this to discourage you, but I'd strongly suggest doing your research, enjoying the chams on this forum, and as you settle into your adult life and are more able to provide for a cham, then get one.

I have to third the above info. I am almost 30 and just now am financially stable enough to dedicate money and time to this intriguing hobby. I always wanted one as a kid, even volunteered/worked at the local nature museum that housed two chameleons back in the late 90s when people were still figuring out their husbandry. (they didn't make it due to stress and lack of knowledge on the animal care director's behalf) I have read and researched (still am) for almost a year before actually joining this forum.
