My new chameleon has 4 colors Brown, Green, Light Green, and Dark Green. As he gets older will he have more colors? He is Male 2 months old.

hi there

veileds are predominantly green, ranging from a bright yellow-green to a drab olive. Males have a distinct pattern of brown and yellow barring. Females and juveniles are primarily solid green with some yellow spots and stripes. there are several veiled chameleon morphs that include hypermelanisitc and hypomelanistic (translucent) mutations.:)

If you Google "veiled chameleon" in images you can get a good idea of the potential colors a veiled has. Most males are green and yellow, but some can have varying degrees of blue, orange, brown, etc. Some individuals are high-blue, or high-yellow, but on average green is the principle base color.

Adult, sexually-mature females will be a base color of green with yellow (sometimes called mustard) and blue spots.

Chameleons tend to get their adult colors more strongly at about 6 months of age or a little later. And these colors will continue to develop for up to another year, so if you have a small little guy he still has plenty of time to go.

I have a 4-5 month old veiled and he just started to show some barring but very pale. So as Olimpia said, your cham has time! :)

Does he have more foliage since you took the pictures (on your profile)? Because he definitely needs more!!!! Is the top of the cage mesh?
