Coil UVB bulbs are bad?

Fact or Fiction?

Can someone give a reason why this is?

Fact,

The pattern of UVB they emit is is extremely powerful (many times more powerful than the sun) in certain areas and can cause eye damage as well as UVB Burns. I recommend a 5.0 reptisun tube style for smaller cages and 10.0 reptisun tube for larger cages. A reflector with the tube style is very effective as well.

Hope this helps,

Todd

Kinda like getting shot with a fire house, in the eyes, at point blank?

If you have more than one cage I like to buy 48" tubes from LLL reptile which covers two cages and cost the same as any size bulb! you can buy the fixture at home depot for 15$ or so and cover two cages at once... the fixture has a reflector too which is awesome... I buy the fixture that has a place for two bulbs and put a plant grow bulb in the other side.

Good Luck,

Todd

My cages are all custom and with my horrible carpentry skills they are all pretty different in height so one big one would not work too well. :DI have the tube fixtures for 2 of the cages but need to get rid of the coil one for the last. I will get an 18 inch fixture from home depot this week. Thanks for also looking out!

Make sure that you get one that is a plug in fixture for the 18". Most of the ones they sell at Home Depot are direct wire. I have had better luck going to Wally World for plug in fixtures of smaller sizes.

See Ya,

Todd

I got mine at walmart, i think they were $6 or $7 i cant remember tho.

walmart... I am afraid of that store. Nothing but rampant children and screaming families. I will check out walmart. It is right next to my local home depot.

I am going to buy some UVB tubes. Should I get a 2.0 or a 5.0?

If it helps..

I am getting a new bulb for my baby veileds and a new one for my sub adult.
