I was just outside doing some yardwork, and while digging up some old mulch i found a cicida (the shell form with claws and whatnot - no wings)

if i wash the dirt off of it would it be safe to feed to my chameleon?

Are you serious!?!? Any cicadas, ones that I could encounter in North America of course and not like Australia or Africa, are safe for chameleons.

Yep, This has been discussed many times on here. Chameleons love cicadas..as well as many green hoppers you can find here in Florida.

Well thank you very much. I've never noticed any discussions on here about them or I certainly would have checked them out because I get Cicadas around here all the time.

And as far as hoppers, I'll be getting some Obscure Bird and American Bird Grasshoppers as soon as they show themselves

You gotta be careful with the hoppers here in florida.. there are some lubbers that are poisonous and can harm your chams.

Of course. I learned about those a little while back but thanks for your concern. The Bird grasshoppers are perfect because they're huge and will eat fruits and veggies :D
