Chameleons and Music

Hello Forum,
I have a question. As some know I am planning on getting a Panther real soon. I'm also inspiring music producer with a small studio setup (Pics attached). Im usually in the room when Im off of work (6:30pm- No later than 11:30pm) Maybe a little later on weekends. Other than that the room will be quiet and he will be there alone until I get off. I plan on setting his light schedule til where they are on to atleast 11:30 so I wont disturb his sleep time. I dont have alot of company but when I do have a studio session its on a saturday for about 3 hours. Do you guys think this would affect the cham in anyway? Also I do smoke, I usually smoke with a fan on in the room. Would I need to stop smoking all together in the room or not?
Thanks ahead of time!

Sweet studio;) The bass from those is going to be a problem if you have it turned up at all. Yes you will have to STOP smoking in the cham room. There lungs are small and fragile, and they are very sensitive animals anyhow:( You can keep the posters though...

Thanks for the quick response. Yes I figured I would have to give up the smoke in the room. The Studio monitors (speakers) I use are not that big. They are used to Mix and Master the music. I currently do not use a sub so the bass wont be too bad. I dont max it out anyway! What about that light schedule?

It can still be enough bass to bother him, those look like decent monitors. If you can feel it in your chest, its rocking his world, like being front row for him. Keep the schedule 12/12, or as close to it as possible, they pretty much need complete darkness to sleep though, so if hes going to be sleeping till noon, and going to bed at midnite, daylight from a window might be a problem. But there are ways around that.

Ok I will def watch my levels. They are come ok monitors but I dont really max out the sound too much. I will be using my headphones more often now lol! So its totally darkness!? Ok. I can cover the patio door which is the only "window" into the room. I also seen some of those "night time bulbs" at petco/petsmart. So I guess these would be a no no?

The "nite time/red bulbs" are unnecessary. You wont need the heat from them unless your house gets below 50, and yes they can keep them awake. On the bass, im sure youll be able to use your judgment on whats appropriate. They are deaf so its really just the shaking of bass that bothers them.;)
You could also cover the cage, instead of an entire door...

I would not smoke in that room, but I play guitar in the same room as mine.I have two Celestion 12s. He doesn't seemed bothered at all. Just hangs out, does his thing as normal. I'm sure some of the pet psychics in here will say it is not okay, but until he starts showing signs of stress, I will continue.

Thats good to hear , Im sure it differs from Cham to Cham since these guys seem to all have their own personalities. What about company. I know these guys dont like alot of attention but do you think its ok to have about 3 people including myself for a session lasting about 3 hours?

Most panthers are pretty chill. I would say it may make him nervous at first. But as long as everyones not waving there hands in his face, he should handle it ok. Just make sure he has a place to hide if he wants.

My chameleon spends most of his time on a classroom with 27 10-year-olds and he has no problems at all.

Agree, just give him enough hiding places, and a lot of foliage, and he should be fine. You might get a loner, only time will tell. Mine does not mind people being in the room, he will get freaked out when I check the temp above his cage. I guess he thinks my hand is a bird trying to swoop him up.

if you know its going to get crazy in there add alot of extra foliage, if he seems to be freaking out, just cover the cage with a sheet. i baby sit a bit and when when the kids come over, i just cover my cham wall w/ a tarp. that way its out of site, out of mind on both sides, youre guests arent popping their faces in front of your cham, and the cham isnt upset by all the additional company and movement.
also, if youre going to hold your cham, be sure to wash your hands all the way up to your elbows and change your shirt if you've been smoking,

Thanks for the reply! I will have to update my "studio rules"
1. No disrespecting my house and my equipment
2. NO SMOKING!
3. No looking, smelling, tasting my chameleon! ;)
