Chameleon's in hawaii

Hi all,

I'm currently in Hawaii (Oahu to be exact) on vacation. Just wondering if any of you guys/girls know if there are any pet stores or shops that have chameleons we can go and have a look at? Hope to hear from you all soon
Cheers

The only chameleons in Hawaii are Jackson's and Veileds.
You might see both in the wild...but they are trying to get rid of the veileds because they are causing damage so there are laws about not keeping them there. The Jackson's have been said to cause no environmental damage so they are still there.

I don't know if you would find Jackson's in a pet store or not.

I know some people on the forum have "secret areas" where they find tons of chams in Hawaii.

windward

If you drive around to the windward side you might see signs for Chameleons for sale. There used to be a couple in Waimanalo.

In Kaneohe you might spy some in the upper reaches of the Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden. Good Luck.

Uhmmm...how on earth are vields causing damage? By eating some plants? What the heck....!!! Veiled respect!

I never knew there were veileds wild in HI. I knew about the Jacksons and as already stated you used to be able to find them available for sale driving or even in the newspapers. I know things have changed since I lived there so sorry I can't be of much help.

all the pet shops do even their pet supermarkets have cages with 30 or so jacksons in them. I think they sell them for $15 or so.
