Reptiles lack the emotional capacity to bond with their owners, or each other. They can recognize certain people and associate them with positive experiences, such as feeding, which can make them more friendly. Chameleons have individual personalities and some are more friendly than others naturally. If they are not afraid of you or hand feed then they like you.

I agree with the other posted reply. I don't think chameleon will ever "like" you. By gentle handling and feeding you will gain his trust, that is the most that you could expect. And yes, Panthers can recognize people.
