Cham on a cricket strike!!!

I noticed the past 5 days or so that my cham does not want to eat crickets. I noticed a similar post about this a day or so ago. That forum members cham was 8 mos old as is mine. My cham does not seem to have much interest in crickets! He will not eat them free range, only from the cup and that is not much! He will however, eat the Superworms. Yesterday he did eat the crickets but it took some coaxing with the cup. Now my question is this: Is eating 2 or 3 superworms enough food for the day for a 8 month old? Today he would not touch the crickets at all! I dont want to gorge him on supers. I fed him two so far. He is drinking just fine and everything else is good. Thanks for any help!

Since he has gone off crickets, I would order some hornworms or silkworms to feed him along with the supers for variety. Also don't forget to gutload your supers as you would crickets. Supers gorge on that stuff, so IMO they are just as good as crickets and don't forget to dust the worms.

I'm having exactly the same problem with my Cham he is ten months old he won't eat crickets or locusts at the moment I was good up today I hadn't given him any supers since last week as thought if he is hungry enough he will start to eat the crickets but he hasn't eaten anything so I gave him a super today but is it possible some chams just prefer these and if gutloaded can the Cham be as healthy as a Cham who eats crickets etc ?

ok, I am gonna try that! This little stinker all of the sudden is turning his nose up at them! I will try what you said! good advice!!

i dont believe that variety is a good solution for a hungerstriking cham unless its unhealthy & needs to eat. if your cham is well hydrated & got some big puffy pads on its head, id let it get hungry for a good few days. variety is great but without the staple feeder being striked at, your cham may get more picky if it likes butterworms more, for example. some great advice i read on a previous post is to try & feed your cham in some new surroundings. the theory is that the chameleon will be more aggressive towards food in such a situation. next time one of my gals or guys gets picky im going to try this. If your cham really needs food asap & you havnt been giving variety in the past, horns & silks are the way to go, as draetish stated.

luckyy, i think that if your cham is into worms & wont go for crix at all, supers are necessity due th the chitlin in the exoskeleton. they will eat your crix gutload for the most part. im sure they will eat at least carrot.

Supers will eat the same fresh veg as crickets or dubias and they pig out on the stuff.

Thank you for your replies I'm going to keep trying with the crickets and try feeding him altering how I feed him see if I can trigger him to eat the crickets

I use supers as a staple. My Veiled did the same thing at around 9 months and hasnt touched crix since! I still try every now and then, but nadda.

well its good to know I am not alone. He did eat some crickets yesterday but I had to coax him into it! Thanks for all the advice!

Thank u for all your help it's good to know were not the only ones that it's happened to and that your Cham is healthy on supers
