Calumma parsonii (Orange Eye) - pt II

Ok, first off, nothing has changed with my opinion about Parson's. I would much rather see something constructive done towards lifting the trade suspension and thus allowing a very small quota of these animals out of Madagascar than know that they're coming in through a loophole in the system. Out of respect, I don't want to go into details, but, I guess you could say out of caring about what happened (longevity-wise) to these recent imports, offering to help where it was needed and appreciated, and apparently having some saved-up good karma, this pair was offered to me as a provider of a good home. I did not pay for them. I doubt the importer of these will bring in any more.

That said, they've been through a rough last few days. You could say Ryan and I are both on pins and needles waiting for our respective vet appointments. So far so good.

Off to drop off the first stool sample they gave me at the vet....

Wishing you the best!

I'm sending you and your new charges my best wishes for a happy and healthy future. They have certainly gone to a worthy home! That species is such a big responsibility. Can't wait to see pictures later as you get them tuned up and settled in :)

Congrats Kent I hope everything is good after their vet visit. I don't know the story behind them and I'm sure it is an interesting one, but none the less, good luck!

And you know the real...real story on those animals......talk about irony:mad:

That would probably be more accurately referred to as the "other story." And since I only just heard about it tonight, it should be clear that it has nothing to do with me or Ryan. Or ultimately, no one in the U.S.

Thanks for the kind words, everybody. It sure is a trip to have these fall into my lap. Still doing well; eating and drinking. I'll have the fecal test results tomorrow afternoon.

One went to another local guy here who just contacted me about using my vet. The importer kept the last one.

So these parsonii were brought in illegaly?

Supporting the black market? Despite the fact they were "given to you" it doesnt matter. . .

Regardless of what happened, they are all in good hands with people who will properly take care of them and do what they have to do to insure that.

Good luck to all of you with them and keep us updated. Kent and Ryan: any time you need help with them, let me know. I can always use a vacation. :)
