Hi, I posted about my rescued veiled and several people on here said he looked like he had MBD. I ordered the calcium w/o d3 and it arrived today. I called the vet last week and she will be in the coming monday. She has no available app ts open but she will talk to me. I also asked the nurse about getting liquid calcium to start using right away and they don't have any. Do you guys think I can dissolve a bit of the powder in some baby food and feed that to bubbles? Would that be similar to the liquid or not? He has eaten very well today. He also is shedding big time on his underside. I think that is a good sign, is it? He has been out for 30 minutes or longer everyday for the last many days.

as long as the temp allow (this is summer, which is good), take him outside as long as possible. During babyhood, i often let mine bask from 10 am to 2 pm (again as long as it is not too hot and not too cold).
I believe liquid calcium is prescription only.
Why are you feeding your chameleon with baby food? Baby food is not suitable for chameleon.
Is Bubble eating ok? force feeding is extremely stressful and should be utilize during emergency only.

Remind me the history with Bubble again..

Just as a suggestion, it is better to keep updating your previous post rather than making a new one. We often forgot about the history of the specific chameleon.

The vet has to give it to you and normally a shot also to help it get to the bones faster. Maybe you can just go to the vet as a walk in emergency. The longer you wait the more permanate damage it will do to the bones.

I'm not really feeding him baby food, only asking. I'm only trying to figure out what to do that would be best. I have fed my bearded dragon a mix of baby food when she was ill. Although I didn't need to force her to eat it as she liked it and would lick the dropper eagerly. I would like to know If I can mix the calcium with something to get it to Bubbles quicker. And since he has already eaten today he probably won't eat anymore so no calcium today.

The vet I need to see only comes to town 1x a month. I did call and see if I could get in and the nurse said she was all booked up as a surgery was scheduled. I'm not sure they would see me if I just walked in. I know the calcium is by prescription but the nurse said they didn't even have any. This Dr. is small time but it's the best and only choice I have.

Now for keeping him outside, today I kept him out for a couple of hours. It's in the mid 90's, is that too hot? He seemed to gape a lot so I brought him in. I did keep misting him to cool him down while he was out. Can't keep him out unsupervised as I have Nosey neighbor kids and wayward cats roaming in my yard.

As far as his eating he did great when I first got him. He will not eat any roaches that I have. He loves the tiny super worms that I have, eating 10-20 a day. He is a sporadic eater with the crickets, from 0- 3 a day. I have put collard greens for him and dandelion greens and he doesn't touch them.

I'll remember to keep all my questions on the same thread that I made. Sorry, and thanks for helping.

Try this website and see if you might can find a different vet because you are going to need liquid calcium. I know sometimes a good chameleon vet is not close by.......I have to travel over 2 hours to one. Hope this will help. Jann

I did go to a vet that is 3 hours from me. I really liked them. My truck has given up the ghost so I'm on foot for now. I guess I'll order some liquid but I was worried about the shipping time. Thanks anyway.

make sure that when he's outside, he's not in a glass tank. HE WILL FRY!!!

I don't have him in a glass tank, nor do I put him outside in one so he's safe there. I tried to put him in the shade and I had a ficus tree and other vines in with him for shade. It was still hot. We try to go out early in the day.

it works good for MBD or gravid females. it doesn't have D3 so you still need to supplement that and make sure you animal has good UV lighting.
