Golly, this topic gets some people as revved up as Vitamin A discussions!

My chameleons are fully hydrated. They get the BULK of their water from drippers. What they do not drink falls into a collection pan, which is removed. Hence water does not hit the papertowel. Well maybe one or two splash drips, if the chameleon is moving around under his or her drip line. I assure you any stray drips would dry quickly. If there was a big sloshing mess, I would of course remove towels, dry etc.

Drippers work very very very well for me and my chameleons. My chameleons also get well hydrated prey.

I also hand mist (MIST not spray) periodically (up to three times a day, but usually just once). This is possibly not necessary, given all water needs are met via the drippers. My chameleons do not drink from the mist droplets. They like the drippers better. My ambient humidity remains 50% or higher in the chameleon room. Usually higher. This is without the need for misting. Misting causes cage humidity to rise to 70%-90%.

Yes, when I clean the cage (roughly weekly) it gets wet all over. Clearly that means there is no toweling and no chameleon in the cage at the time.

Everyones ambient conditions are different. Some people have air conditioning, or central heating, large rooms, small rooms, live plants, no plants, different species of chameleon, screen enclosures or wood or wire or even glass, etc. So everyone will have a slightly different method. What is important is less HOW one keeps their chameleons needs met, but rather just that they DO.

Given the implications of a previous post, I feel I should add: In over ten years of keeping multiple panther chameleons, I have had only ONE illness, which was not related to dehydration. ...er I mean of course only one chameleon has ever had an illness, and it was a single illness, regrettably still being treated.

p.s. - I recall that Brad Ramsey, who most people accept as quite knowledgable, also uses drippers. His drippers do not drip into plants or all over the floor, but rather into mesh covered collection containers. His drippers run most of the day. Mistings are 2 to 3 times a day for about 30 seconds each time. Automatic Watering Systems?

Hello ...just think do chameleons have paper towels on the ground in the wild? NO so i dont know why people use them, they are stupid looking in the set up and think about it, its not that hard to wipe up shiit on the bottom on the set up!! Just wipe it up its not that hard and also set up some kind of drainage system so that way you can set up a mister to keep the humidity up!! PAPER TOWELS ARE A STUPID CHOICE TRY TO AVOID IT!! Thanks
