I agree with Chamoh. The fee is minimal and it's not that the seller is making more. Paypal has to get theirs, as is the norm today. Everyone has to get a slice.
Paypal is a convenience. For those that want to take care of business now or those worried about personal information leaking or whatever. Conveniences come at a price. I have seen sellers NOT want to accept Paypal payments because of the fee and the 5 day or so wait for funds. In this case, the buyer, as I have done numerous times, can offer to pay the fee and the results are agreeable to each. Think of all the merchants that accept Paypal and don't increase their prices to cover it and some of those are in this group. It's not that serious. |

I for one value the word of a seller. If someone tells me their cham is $200 with shipping included, I would assume $200 out the door. If I go to buy the cham on paypal and see that it's actually $206...though I might not back out on the deal...I would still feel that it should have been disclosed to me beforehand. It's just like when you go to buy a car and you agree on the price without stipulating EXACTLY what all that price covers. Be informed and inform your buyers...mom and dad really were right when they said "Honesty is the best policy."

I agree with Norton if they say 400 or whatever. Shipping inc. then don't hit me up for paypal fees or for heat pack charges. that should be worked into the sellers asking price and shipping charge upfront. jmo

of course the total should be disclosed before you go to buy it, that's just called not being a sleezball.. i think that's not really the point here though.

Personally everyone ive paid on paypal for chams and supplies/feedrs has eaten the fees. They havent made me pay, thats part of doing business. You have to place your items for sale at the approp price point.

it's such a moot point, b/c it's a matter of perspective. I could just as easily say the buyer has to cover the cost because it's just part of buying that you cover the fees. there is no right or wrong here.

If you read the Terms of Service on the PayPal site it states that it is the sellers’ responsibility to pay the fee and it is actually a violation of those terms to publicly post or request the buyer to pay the fee. Now with that being said do people on ebay commonly post request seller to pay the fee, have I don’t it? Sure tons of people do, PayPal most likely has no where near the staff that would be required to enforce this rule. Most vendors like me usually work the fee into the price, or is gas/ink to print shipping labels and drop off boxes free? A lot of nickel and dime stuff goes into running a business that you don’t really think about until tax time rolls around (like now) and you find yourself wondering how the heck you used to many staples, printer ink, paper ECT... Even if you say I don’t wana use PayPal, run my CC, that is not free. Sending a MO or check is not free... But I digress.
I suppose it boils down to... Are you willing to pay the single digit % from a seller or no? If no then find another. Problem solved. |

I dont have a problem paying fees. Im also a business owner and i charge fees daily for my time and my professional help/knowledge. But i belive that the seller should disclose all fees and inc all in one final "sales price". Keeps the confusion and hard feelings to a min.

exactly--sellers typically work the fee into the total price. it's an issue of semantics. either way the buyer typically is "paying" for the fee. so who cares if the seller doesn't work the fee into the total and says the price is x + fees? it's not how I would do business typically, but in the end it's all the same.

Working the fees into the sale price looks like the best way to go. As a seller I wouldnt advertise paying the fees plus asking price, its not a large amount of money but it just might be enough to change someone's mind.
