Found this thing outside my warehouse this evening. Anybody know what it is? Is it indigenous to South Texas? Very poisonous? I'm just curious. I've never stumbled upon a real scorpion before...

I'd guesstimate it to be right at 2" including tail.

Looks like a dessert hairy scorpion, don't get stung lol. If you get stung it will feel like you have just been shot. Will suck for a couple of hours. Had a coworker go to the hospital because their heart rate was rising too high after being stung.

I think its a bark scorpion. They are all over the place in the outskirts of Austin but never bothered to look em up. I stepped on a little on about two inches and it felt like a bee sting.

Hmm...would it be worth keeping one of these things? He's creepy and kinda cool looking at the same time. Can you identify it as male/female visually?

Was unsure if it was a bark scorpion. It was between the two but I agree. If it is a bark scorpion it is not that bad. Pick it up by the tail and put it in your hand. I personally would go and just get an emporer scorpion for $10. They are bad ass! Crickets will do the trick :) just don't leave a black light on them or it will break down their immune system and kill them. Can use it every once in a while to make them glow though. Been considering get a scorpion myself ;)

Nah, I would never pay for a scorpion, but I may hang onto him for a bit just to watch him hunt and eat. Creeps me out. Just like spiders...
