Branches

So I just ordered a new 2x2x4 cage for my panther chameleon and I was curious where to find branches for cheap. The only site or place I can think of is Kammerflage Kreations (chameleonsonly.com), and theyre charging around 10 bucks a piece for 30" and roughly 8.50 a piece for 24". For those who get their branches from outside, is there a preferred type of tree? And whats the best way to treat a branch that I get from outside.

Thanks!

Kammerflage is the only company I know of that sells actual branches for the chameleon setups.

I get mine from around the yard. I don't know what specific species of tree but I look for branches that the bark easily comes off of as I recommend you remove all the bark and dirt. I also wouldn't use anything that is rotting.

After they are cleaned, I soak them in soapy water for about 30 minutes and then I bake them in the oven around 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Each branch is different so keep an eye on them as they may need to be pulled out prior to the 30 minutes as you don't want to burn them.
