here i am again asking where is the best places to place the temp/hydro gauge(this one is digital, flukers brand)at,i was thinking in the middle? then i would place a nother temp gauge by the basking area. and another temp gauge in the lower sectiion of the cage.
does this sound about right? or is this over kill? better suggestiions anyone?

I keep one humidity gauge in the middle of the cage.
1 temp gauge by the basking spot
1 on the opposte side on the top

What is even better then a gauge is a temp gun.

I am currently using 2x of the indoor/outdoor combo gauges. Its digital, and its intended use is to have a the probe at the end of the line outside through the wall or whatever. It gives you the humidity at the probe location, min/max temps, as well as where the actual unit is located (indoor)

So 1 of em tells me his basking spot temp and humidity, and is placed on the wall. The wall temp gives me the overall ambient temp of the room. I use a second for the "cooler" side of his cage to ensure he has an area to relax and not get too hot, as well as doubling to ensure the humidity reading is accurate from the first.

You can find em for about 20 bucks at a hardware store. I have seen em at places like Walmart as well.

Here is an example of a generic one with the "probe" that can measure temps at a specific spot.
