Basking Spot Help

I have been wondering this for a while...

When measuring my Cham's basking spot should I be measuring the temp. of the leaves and sticks or my Cham when he is basking?

One day I decided to see the difference between the temp. of the leaves and sticks to my Cham's body. My sticks and leaves measured around 88. When i measured my Cham's body, he was around 103 degrees!

Which temp. measurement should I follow? The leaves and sticks or my Cham's body?

He can change his temps with his color. I would say measure the area and he can adjust to his needed temp.

Ideally measure where the highest point of your Cham will be when basking, is what I do. Kath.
