Baby Veiled Food

Can you start out feeding newly hatched veiled's with baby dubia roaches?
I don't think so. 1 to 2 week old crickets work best. Really depends on size of babies at hatch. A 9 month old hatched baby is usually alot bigger than a early 6,7,8 month old hatch.

Veil hatchlings are usually little fraidy cats. I like to start mine off with hydei flies. Their movement really stimulates the appetites. The crickets will hide mostly in dark spaces on the bottom. Some will move and climb, but not many. The trick is to feed both at the same time. This will send your babies on a scavenger hunt finding everything to eat. All my babies (jax, panther, veil) grow quickest and healthiest, when fed a mixture of both the flies and crix. Good luck, you are gonna need it.

i've had a few chams in the past, i fed them small crickets, small worms, and flies and the occasional unlucky house moth untill they were 6 months and after that i let them eat about anything they wanted including roaches. But one was so picky he never wanted anything accept flies, moths, and feeder crickets!

Depends on the size of the roach and the baby lizard.
I think most newborn dubia would be a little too large for a new-hatched veiled.

Interestingly this is almost the exact opposite of my own observations. Maybe a topic for another thread though.
