Im new to the forum and i had a couple of question for ne one in here that might have a good answer. I have a 4 month old veiled chameleon. He is very active ve had him for 3 months with no problems so far. I have a tropical themed backyard and i have a lot of anole lizards and when i mean alot i mean that its exagerrated. I let my chameleon out 1 day nd e stard hunting the baby anoles nd since then hes only been wanting to eat lizards he wont respond to crickets n e more...is that a bad thing? nd btw he is growing really fast shedding every 3 weeks or so

Welcome!

I would not feed wild anoles all the time.

Too much protein and stuff in them that jut isnt good.

Not to mention, anoles tend to carry parasites, and you dont want to infect him.

Stop feeding anoles, only feed insects.

Try crickets, dubia roaches, hornworms (not wild caught) silkworms, pheonix worms etc.

what do you supplement with?

what lights do you use?

what is your basking temp?

what cage is he in?

To be honest I dnt supplement him with ne thing since hes outside all day. i heard nothing beats the sun, so im taking my chances. Basking temp around 98-99. and the bottom of his cage is around 89-90 i have him in a mesh cage that i built myself and its 24-24-48. I dnt want ne thing to happn to the little guy. I jus wntd to get some more information if i should feed him a baby lizard atleast once a week. or not at all ne more

you should stil be supplementing with a plain calcium with no d3 on every feeding.

personally i think his basking temps are way to high for a young baby.

outside sun is great for them!!! much better than the artificial UVB.

I would try to create a more gradient temperature drop for him, so if he gets too hot, he can go lower to cool off.

Like i said, wild caught anoles can carry parasites, and those can then infect him.. so I would stop feeding them.. just my opinion.

:)

youre very welcome.

I hope it helped.

and If you have any other questions, feel free to ask, thats what we are here for!

I'm no expert, but have read that a male Veiled of 4 months should be between 78-82 F.

To second camimom, all the proteins in anoles could cause gout (if fed over a long period of time) which will effect your chameleon's feet.

I would love to get a follow up on this one. Very concerened for this Anole Annihilator. Sounds like he is a little pistol...
