Anyone Using THG Egg Incubation Trays?

I have been looking around and they seem to be fairly new so I have not been able to find much info on their successes. I did find one thread on here that had a great hatch with them but looking for more experiences.

Thanks in advance.

I have half a clutch of quad eggs in one from day one. They are still the same size as the ones on vermiculite. They are one month into a five month incubation.

I also put some eggs from another clutch that were 3/4 of the way incubated in one. So far, as the other thread mentioned, the larger eggs aren't swelling as much as the ones on vermiculite. The eggs on vermiculite are windowing while the ones in the tray are not. I am using the water crystals as the media below the trays.

They will hatch any day, so I'll let you know what happens.

I have found a few other people using them in a Facebook group and they have all reported really good news.

I plan to start using these but I am not certain if I should use water, if so what kind? Tap, filtered, salt?

Should the container have holes?

I have found two other people who just added water and never did a thing the entire incubation process, 100% hatch and all neos were healthy.

One person used water crystals and had same results.

It seems that the eggs are smaller using the trays but the neos are the same size as compared to vermiculite. Its been suggested by others that the eggs absorb less water being in the trays, this may also lead to a shell thats easier to pip.

Still searching for more experiences.

The reason I tried them was the eggs were really big in the last clutch, and 4 babies pipped but didn't hatch. When I finally cut them open, they were full term and looked perfect. Maybe there was too much fluid inside and they drown? Idk, but thought I would try these on a part of a clutch or two.

I used water crystals, distilled water and I poked one small hole in the lid. I have them in an incubator as well.

Thanks, I am going to go with water crystals and a small hole that seems to be the prefered method. Though regardless of the method everyone has had great results.

Well, my clutch of quads hatched. The ones on vermiculite (9) started to hatch first, but the ones that hatched in the THG tray (4) were some of the biggest neonates. All four hatched. 6 of the 9 on vermiculite have hatched so far.

They were only in the tray for one month, 1/5 of the incubation time. I have another clutch that I put in the tray from day one. They are one month into incubation and they are very similar in size so far.

Here is a photo of the eggs right before they hatched, you can see how much larger the one from the vermiculite is.

I'm trying the THG tray with one Uroplatus sikorae egg. Started out with two, but one of the eggs was cracked from the get go. I'm using RO filtered water and no substrate. The other 4 sikorae eggs are done the "usual" way, on dry substrate in small cups on top of wet substrate, in deli cups with a few small holes. I'm curious to see how it works at lower temps. I know one egg isn't a good test, but I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket. ;) Also, I want to keep the hatchlings separated, so I know which female produced which hatchling.

What temp are you incubating at? I should have mentioned I incubated at 68degrees.

They're in the cabinet under my chameleon cage, so it ranges from low to mid sixties. Sometimes, depending on the living room temp, it's a tiny bit warmer.

I just put 34 Panther chameleon eggs in a medium tray 2 days ago. Long wait to see how much I like it! I have heard some very good things about them, so thought I would give it a try.

Ok!!! I will jump on the bandwagon! I have a clutch of quad eggs cooking and I will put 1 in the THG Egg. I am very protective of my quads - even before they hatch

We just put 15 more panther eggs in the trays. I used filtered water to make water crystals for moisture and poked two holes in each deli cup!

I have been looking for weeks trying to find any bad experiences from these trays but all I have found is positive experience with great variation in incubation methods and moisture management. Most have reported better hatch rates as well as shorter incubation times.

So, the final count from my experiment is:
4 out of 4 hatched from in the tray. These are the largest babies.
8 out of 9 hatched from the vermiculite. One pipped but didn't hatch. Perfect baby found inside dead.

My other clutch, I put half in the trays and half on vermiculite. I may change my mind and switch them all over to the trays. It's really that last month when the quad eggs get really big.

I also have these THG trays. I just got my first 20 fertile panther eggs that I put in a month ago. I have just left them room temperature. They have been in for a month. Seem to be doing good. When I set these up I used a 1/4" of RO water and poked 4 holes in the top of the deli cups.

I just placed a fresh clutch of eighteen Furcifer lateralis eggs in the egg trays. This will be compared to a clutch the same female laid earlier in the year which is being incubated on substrate. Time will tell. :)

I just put my first three pygmy (brevs) eggs on the THG tray with water w/no susbstate. As soon as either the geckos or pygmies hatch, I'll post in this thread again. :)
