Angered by incompetence

So, I often check Kijiji/Craigslist for cham related stuff and happened on an ad titled "Two chameleons with enclosures. .panther and ambilobe". The seller uploaded two pictures and low and behold one of the chameleons is a veild. They listed the panther as female and the veiled as a male.

I emailed the seller and asked if they had uploaded the wrong picture, because I was positive one was a veiled. I got a response saying that they got the chameleon from a breeder and it was either a veiled or a veiled x panther. They were certain of it because "Panthers don't come in that color"

I very politely told them that I worked with give or take 10 different species of chameleon and can guarantee that panthers and veilds could not be crossed, directed them to this forum to ask for help, and provided a picture of my panther M to compare. The conversation ended there and the ad was taken down.

ffwd months later - Today. To my amazement I find this ad "AMBILOBE/ VEIL X AND PANTHER CHAMELEONS W/ ENCLOSURES"

Same pictures, same seller. What angers me is that some new owner might pay the 250$ they are asking for a veild OR buy the two and try to BREED THEM! As I'm sure these owners have tried! So upset that I don't know what to do. If I message this person again I don't I could be civil.

Edit: They appear to have changed the ad.

Hahaha! Wow. That's funny.

Yea, I'm speechless. I could understand if they got scammed, or the breeder mistook a veild for a panther? But to try to pass it off as such, when you've been shown the difference is just dishonest.

This might sound bad but... Would there be any way to like, publicly 'disprove' them? You know on craigslist when someone posts 'this persons is a scammer' kinda thing? Just to clear it up. If you felt the need to go to such great lengths lol

Don't think I would go that far. Even this is a bit extreme to me.

I sent them a email hopefully they will change that to veiled for sale

Yea, I'm thinking if enough people inform them, they might actually do some research into the matter. Please don't be rude about it, it is likely they just got scammed by someone.

Ya and don't worry was not rude at all very nice and just informed them on how to tell a panther and a veiled cham apart from each other. As well as cost difference

No mating? Lol. I would never do it, obviously.

Probably not. I was once working in my F veild's cage with a M panther sitting on my shoulder. Out of nowhere, she shot him in the face with her tongue and actually came at him. If I let them have at it, they probably woulda killed each other.

You should pose as a Nigerian Prince and tell him he has money waiting from an inheritance worth $5,000,000. He just needs to send you $25,000 to process the claim. :)

Just an FYI about mating a veiled with a panther; it is genetically impossible because and I believe it was Chris Anderson who told us on a Facebook group that the DNA from each chameleon is not compatible as (I forget the exact details) each chameleon has a different number and it doesn't 'line up' evenly when being created. LOL...this doesn't help much but it if physically & genetically impossible for the two to mate.
