Agnes Update
Sorry to be so tardy posting this, but between having the boys here this last weekend (we are three weeks into the transition, they will make the permanent move here on August 1st) and helping our aged neighbor, who has started in home hospice care
... I haven't had much of a chance or the energy to update you all.Agnes layed the Kitty/Agnes eggs on July 4th. She fussed around quite a bit more this time before starting the real burrow .... and what a burrow it was! It zigged and zagged all over the laying bucket and actually collapsed on her. She had tunneled under the tunnel and got herself trapped. I had to dig her out. She is fine and eating and drinking well. She laid 39 eggs ... two which look like collapsed balloons and are not good I'm sure. The other 37 look fantastic. I am pretty certain now that the old ??? eggs are infertile as these fresh ones are so much whiter and fat (big difference in the way they look) Still holding onto all of them though (just in case) even the two deflated ones. Gads ... too much stress this weekend! I am currently alone in the house, and not caring for anyone at the moment .... enjoying every precious second! -Brad

What a stress filled time you are in. At least you can always go and watch your very calm chami's roam around in slow motion. I'm sure it reduces our BP! Good to see you here.

Okay .... I just looked at those old eggs again .....
![]() Who the h*%$ knows! Now most of them look white to me and they have grown in the last four months .... compared to the new "for sure fertile ones" they are half again as big. Some of them look a little translucent, I'm sure those are no good* ... but most of them are bigger and whiter than they were. And the two new ones that looked like deflated balloons are re-inflated. -Brad *Actually, I'm not sure of anything regarding these eggs

Brad...you will have no choice but to believe the eggs are okay at some point...when those little four-legged creatures climb out there will be no more denying it!

You will most likely have another 30-40 more by the time the four month old "bad" clutch starts to hatch. Have fun! |

I will get Agnes back to 100% and start ramping her down. I would not have gotten this clutch on Friday if I hadn't mated them. She didn't lay a second clutch after that first one .... so I'm hoping we can repeat that. I really like her, and would like her to have a big long break (maybe a year or two .... or five.) -Brad

I didn't know you were having success with Kinyognia's female longevity husbandry. I know you were trying to get them to mate, but Agnes wouldn't have it for a long time. I've been working on it too. 80-82 degree basking with 10 1/2" crickets every other day. Best of luck! Justin |
