Adding a bit of water to Hatchrite?

Has anyone had to do this? My incubator is at 90% humidity but I have 1 egg out of 90 in there looking a little shriveled like its dehydrated.

i belive Yes, even though the bag says no water is needed i have heard you need to add water. i however have not used it so thats about all i can say.

I have to add water at least once a month. It doesn't stay moist, my last bag was actually dry out of the bag. I had it for a while, but it wasn't even open. Just squeeze the excess water out.

Yeah the hatchrite is dry like popcorn packing. I'm just hoping all my eggs aren't dehydrated.

I just added a little water to the hatchrite around the edge of the egg container. I have a feeling I'll be using vermiculite in the near future.

Ive read most use it right out the bag and weigh containers after the eggs are in there with hatch rite. From there on out you weigh container once a month or so and add water as needed to achieve initial weight recorded.

thats a good idea but wont the eggs weight more as they develope? they may not idk

Hatchrite's claim to fame is that no water is needed. I'm finding however that I've had 1 egg dry up and sink and I have another looking to do the same. All my eggs have definitely grown but I don't wanna have a massive clutch loss due to dehydration. At the same time I don't want mold from too much water.

I believe that chicken eggs get lighter, but thats a chicken

I spray water around the edges about once a month and all the eggs have been doing great for me. Just had 8 hatch actually, and still quite a few to go.

sure i mean may be a little nothing substantial, thats what people do though, I even read people do that with other forms of substrate and not just hatch rite. I incubate in coco and have never had to.
