5 foot long red tail boa update thread!

this thread is where im going to update everyone on the progress of thor's new home, and finally, thor himself! how badly do people wanna see him? i finally met him and purposely didnt take any pics to keep you guys in suspense but one thing i do have to say, he is BEAUFITUL!

heres the first update!

got the tank into my room, and the substrate in, will be changing it to a more preferred substrate after he settles in more, but he has had repti-bark all 5 of his years, so i dont wanna change it when he'll be stressed from changing homes anyways.

Oh no, another teaser thread I knew that maxttu was going to be a bad influence, haha. I don't know anything about snakes but I love the look of Boas so I really want to see the photos.

I love all your shelves with bins, your so organized. Are those all feeder insects or do you have other animals in there?

its my leopard gecko rack will be adding more shelves next year for upcoming babies..i have 6 adult females in those bins, my baby sped in one, and on the top, speds brother spock is in the right tank, and their mom, venus is in the tank on the left. the only adult male, mars, has a 20 gallon of his own that will be moved under the snake tank

the two bins on the top are insects, one on left is pinhead crickets, the one on the right is my mealworm colony :3 (i take great pride in my mealworms)

That's fantastic! It takes orgizination like that to keep everything healthy and clean. Any tips on cricket breeding? I'm hoping to have pinheads within the next week as long as I did everything correct with their breeding box and incubator

haha i wish i could help you there, but ive never had any luck on breeding crickets, so i just buy them in bulk on ebay

Ignore the black text on the glass lol it was from when I took the sticker off the front. It was so hot the text stayed on the glass.

she is cute! and your right, the jungle mix does look pretty nice. ill deff be getting some for the cage cleaning! where do you get it at? would ebay work? lol. i was thinking of using thor as a boa stud in my store, would love to have one like your ava!

got a fb page started for it so i can start collecting letters of recommendation from future customers to help get funding, just look up Dino Den reptiles i might start getting t-shirts in soon and starting an actual site to get some starter funding

Sounds great! And thank you for the compliment! She is a HAM! She will give you kisses all day long. We are actually on the look for a male redtail that is albino or het for albino to breed with her. She still has a couple of years before she is ready but I like to have the two for a while before I start breeding them. This way I can work with both and still make them pets and not just breeders.

hmmm..i might have to sell that in my store! or could even make my own! hehehe...i love considering selling things petco would never consider!

exactly! could mix it all up in a garbage can, and sell it by the pound! i was also thinking about doing that with woodchip bedding as well for rodents, instead of buying the individual bags, could buy it as horse bedding and put that in a garbage can too and sell that by the bag or how many scoops or something. thinking about doing the same thing with dry gutload! lol..im full of ideas

finally got around to cleaning my room! cleaned all the lizard tubs and tanks, and moved spock to his own tub, and mars to spock's ten gallon so i could put away mars's 20 gallon and make room for my tv..needless to say, mars is not happy with the downgrade

anyhow, got a dishpan today at the dollar store for thor, and found an old tank decoration to put in his home, even if its not functional, it still looks nice. all i have left is to make his house :3

i got thor's house built!!! found some extra wood in the basement, so i sanded all the edges down and nailed together a hide that doubles as a basking spot! :3
