Last year's calendar was a great success and we ended up with a beautiful product. I'm hoping we can build something even better for 2012.

Entry Deadline: August 31

Rules
  1. Only two entries per member.
  2. Anything less than 2300x1800 will not be considered.
  3. Landscape orientation. Maximum resolution. No Humans.
  4. Please try to avoid compression artifacts and pixelation.
  5. Minor post processing is allowed if natural look maintained.
  6. All legal terms from the [thread=102]photo contest[/thread] apply.

Info
Text will be added to each calender photo in order to identify the species and photographer. Some combination of name, username/company, and time since registration will also be included, unless requested otherwise.

To help build a diverse calendar, we will continue the process used last year and group entries into multiple categories. Some photo contest entries from over the past year are likely to be included as well. This means there will be multiple polls to determine the final calendar content. In addition to these categories there will be specific voting for the calendar cover.

For 2011 we designed a standard sized calendar. Depending on the size and number of entries, there may be additional options for 2012 (oversized, vertical, etc). While a standard calendar will be available, a decision on additional options will not be made until the entry deadline has expired.

Prize
The top three entries from the calendar cover vote will receive a free calendar. All proceeds originating from calendar sales will go towards the cost of maintaining Chameleon Forums.

How to Enter
Please note the size and resolution requirements above. Entries have the potential of being very large files. There are three methods you may use to enter your photo(s). So that you know the status of your entry, I will reply to let you know your photo has been received and if there are any problems. If you do not get this reply within a couple days then your entry was not received and you should contact me.
[email protected]

1.) Email your entry as an attachment to the address above.

2.) Email or pm me a link to your photo.

3.) Upload your photo to the calendar section of our gallery.

Note
We are striving for natural looking high quality photos. Entries should be what one would expect from a store bought photo calendar. Veileds and panthers will probably be in the calendar a few times due to their captive populations. Keep in mind the calendar will try to show a variety of species. This means that entries representing more unique species will have a better chance of being included in the calendar. If needed some previous photo contest entries that meet the requirements will be used. The information listed here may change at any time.

frequently asked questions

1. Can my real name be listed on calendar photos instead of my username? What about my company name?
Yes, you can request your real name or company name. We reserve the right to refuse inappropriate names.

2. If my photo is in the calendar do I get a percentage of sales?
NO. Calendar sales are used to help pay for photo and video contest prizes. The top ranking participants will receive a free calendar.

The 2012 calendar entry deadline is in two weeks.
August 31

Reminder: Entries that do not meet the minimum width of 2300px will not be considered. Please review the rules listed in the first post.

The calendar entry deadline is Wednesday August 31.

If you submitted entries by email you should have received a confirmation reply. I'll post a community notice this weekend.

Calendar medals might be a good idea. You can use photoshop.

Might be a dumb question, but would we be able to buy or have one of these calendars sent to our house?

Of course SIR. Have a look here: https://www.chameleonforums.com/bookstore/

Note that they are very high quality calendar, and are well worth the investment! Plus, it helps running the forum, which is very costly timewise but also financially, with all the daily hits!! :) It's also a very nice gift for your relatives, hint hint! ;)

I got a copy of this years calendar when I received my CIN copies- have to say it was VERY nice & I was very pleasantly surprised with it!!

Calendar entries have been filtered and grouped into categories. Voting will begin no later than a week from now.

:)

update

Voting for the various calendar polls will end next Saturday. We will then have a quick 4 day poll to determine the calendar cover. It is my goal to have the calendars ready for the Vegas show on Oct 22.

I expect to post a final poll for the calendar cover within 24 hours. The process has taken longer than anticipated and I've been more busy than usual. What I've done is take all of the community favorites, as well as a few favorites of my own, and put them into a single group. I'm now reviewing each photo individually to determine how appropriate they are for the cover. No more than one photo from any person will be included in the calendar cover poll.

After much consideration the set of calendar photos for 2012 have been chosen. There were many great photos this year and it's unfortunate how little room there is in a 12 month calendar. It was very difficult having to pass on some entries.

Below are thumbs of the calendar photos. Except for the cover they are in no specific order. For those not familiar with our previous calendars, the 3 images at the bottom are collage pages. I will post a more official preview as soon as I can. I expect the calendar to be available in early November.
